Since the January 2010 earthquake, SOPUDEP has initiated a number of educational, youth, women and girls, and healthcare programs to help low income people especially those impacted by the earthquake.
These programs have been made possible thanks to many friends working in solidarity with SOPUDEP in Haiti
A special mention of Mr Seth Donnelly professor of LAHS , Mrs. Debra Strischartz nurse and parent of LAHS, Professor Meghan, the students of Los Altos California High School who even after their graduation continue to bring their support in many different ways. For example raising funds for SOPUDEP students to attend colleges of higher education; assisting with healthcare through providing drugs and organizing mobile clinics. Others who have helped SOPUDEP are students from universities in the United States such as: UCLA University / Carnegie Mellon, Stanford University / San Francisco United / San Jose State Univ. / Mission High School.
In April 2017 The Rotary Club Barrie of Canada joined together with the group TEAM BROKEN EARTH to join us in Haiti where they spent 5 days providing us with medical care for many people in great need who would otherwise not have access to basic healthcare. More than 20 people suffering from hernias had surgical interventions at Bernard Mevs Hospital.
In April 2018 again with the intervention of the Rotary Club a group of doctors from Team Broken Earth and 2 dentists operated on a further 15 people. This is in a country where 90% of the population does not have access to health care
I would like to thank the Rotary Club Barrie for giving us this opportunity to provide healthcare, all the doctors at Team Broken Earth and the five Haitians who made this possible. Without you this program could not exist.
Again thank you to all of you !
